I’m at the point in my life where I actually prefer being my own barista at home and here’s why. I just seem to get it right every single time and the best part is– it’s free. There’s no anxiety on the first sip worrying if “they made it right”. When you make your own iced coffee at home you have total control–FOR FREE. After a few trial and error, I’ve finally nailed the perfect iced coffee recipe. Here’s how you can become our own barista at home. OH– and the best part? It’s all made with my Breville Barista Espresso Machine, which I swear is the best investment any coffee lover can make. If you’re ready to upgrade your home coffee game, you can find it on Amazon or directly through Breville’s website. Both are great options — just depends on where you like to shop (and if you’re using points or gift cards).
What You’ll Need:
- Fresh coffee beans (go for medium or dark roast)
- Breville Barista Espresso Machine
- Vanilla syrup
- Oat milk caramel creamer
- Caramel sauce
- Cold brew (for extra chill and flavor)
- Vanilla cold foam
- Cinnamon (a must have for me but optional)

Step 1: Brew Your Espresso
Start by grinding your beans fresh—it seriously makes a difference. I use my Breville Barista to pull two shots of espresso over ice. The flavor is rich and bold, just like a coffee shop espresso, but smoother when you make it yourself.
Step 2: Add Some Sweetness
If you like your coffee on the sweeter side (guilty), drizzle in a bit of vanilla syrup and swirl in your oat milk caramel creamer. I love how creamy and balanced this combo tastes—it’s dessert in a cup but still gives caffeine-core energy.
Step 3: Chill It Down
Pour your espresso mixture over a cup full of ice. Then, for a little extra depth, top it off with cold brew instead of water. It’s such an underrated move—it keeps your coffee strong and never watered down.
Step 4: Make It Pretty
Here’s where we add the fun stuff. Drizzle a bit of caramel sauce inside the cup, top your drink with a dollop of vanilla cold foam, and sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. I promise you’ll feel like a barista in your own kitchen.
Step 5: Sip & Romanticize
Take that first sip and tell me it’s not better than your $7 coffee shop order. The Breville Barista makes it super easy to get that café-quality espresso at home—plus it looks gorgeous sitting on your counter.
So next time you’re craving an iced coffee, skip the drive-thru and make it yourself. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be hooked.
